OPBA Winter Clinics

ball-snowIn recent years, Oriole Park Baseball Association has sponsored a key number of winter events designed to prepare our Boys and Girls for Spring and Summer ball. The "Winter Clinics" are one such event that continues to generate a high level of positive feedback from the community.

Not only does Oriole Park offer these clinics free, but the staff is top notch.  Instructors from varying professional baseball/softball backgrounds head up the sessions.  A couple examples are Joe Mazzuca and Jim Paduch.  A more comprehensive list of instructors can be found at "Programs / Winter"

OPBA announces the start of each Winter Clinic season on our website and mailing lists.  You can join our mailing lists at http://www.orioleparkbaseball.org/mailing.  Click on the Winter Clinic Mailing List.

Winter Clinics Schedule

Back by popular demand, OPBA is proud to announce the 2011-2012 Winter Clinics schedule. This year's schedule has been set to better serve the players. The age groups have been broken down into smaller age groups so that the instructors can use drills and wording that is specific for that age group.

We do ask, and will enforce, that your child attend his/her age specific group time. This will ensure that all the children are challenged but not over worked and that they get as much from these clinics as possible. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Oriole Park Baseball.

Instructor Joe Mazzuca

While most of the community recognize Joe Mazzuca as the face of the Italian National Team's short stop (2005 - current) or as a former ball player in the Florida Marlin organization, many  do not realize that Joe grew up right here, in Chicago.

Joe Mazzuca graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1999 as not only the EAST Suburban Catholic Conference MVP, but as a member of the National Honor Society.  Joe earned his Bachelor's Degree in Science at Northern Illinois University and was named Verizon's Academic Scholar, all while managing to break the school's RBI record, being recognized as team MVP and Conference All Tournament Team.

It is this dual committment to athletics and education that is reflected in Joe Mazzuca's Baseball Training Curriculum.  By emphasizing focus and concentration, children can carry these skills into the classroom.  Joe Mazzuca challenges his kids while raising their self-esteem.
