The Dogs are OPBA’s community-based, part-time travel team. It’s a cost-friendly opportunity for OPBA players to experience more competitive play against area teams, including some full-time travel teams.
The Dogs play in the Lake Shore Feeder Baseball League. Opponents include the Edgebrook Thunder, Norwood Park Knights, Welles Park, Oz Park, Park Ridge Warriors, Morton Grove Muscle, Skokie, Glenview, Highland Park, GBN Feeder and New Trier Youth, among others.
The opponents change yearly based on team enrollments and levels. Teams in the LSFBL are split into A, B and National levels. Teams in 8u are not divided by level. Divisions can be split into North and South for travel purposes.
Dogs home games for the LSFBL are played at Oriole Park. Fields vary based on age. The Dogs practice primarily in the Oriole Park fieldhouse during the winter, unless other arrangements are made by individual teams. Field house includes a batting cage tunnel. Weekly practices start in December and run through March.
Note: We strongly encourage participation in multiple sports for Dogs players. Dogs coaches are encouraged to be flexible with all practices.
The Dogs program fields teams from 8u to 14u. Fees range from $500 to $600. Fees vary based on tournament participation and team special requests (private coaching, facility usage). Uniforms, league fees, field fees and umpire costs are covered by the fees.
All Dogs players in 8U through 10u are required to play in the OPBA house league. The house-league obligations for 11U and above will be revisited following the 2025 season.
