On July 8, 2017 at 3:30pm, the Oriole Park Girls 12U All Star team stepped foot on the field for the first time together to take on the All Stars selected from various surrounding suburbs (Niles, Skokie and Morton Grove) to test their skills and see who is the best in the Northwest!
The questions was answered by the second inning after the girls had established a 7 run lead and then by the end of the third it was a 12-0 ball game. The Oriole Park 12U team showed off their individual skills both at the plate and on the field however their most impressive victory did not come at the result of a 27-0 win over the suburban All Stars, it was demonstrated throughout the game and then after.
This team demonstrated how a group of people who may not have known each other during the season can quickly come together as a team in support of one another, pick each other up and quickly find a common goal and work together to achieve it. A lesson that should be learned by all and practiced in life.
This is a first class team all the way that should be proud of themselves, each other and their community! Great job girls and thanks for reminding us that it is not a final score that defines a team but the way you practice, play and conduct yourselves on and off the field- that is what makes all of you so impressive!
